Traversing across the Four Corners region of the Colorado Plateau before joining the Colorado River above Lake Powell, the San Juan River flows through an ever-changing landscape of canyons and flood plains. The river passes near Ancestral Pueblo cliff dwellings and through an area with one of the largest concentrations of rock art in the Southwest. Fossils, wildlife and wildflowers are abundant along the river, making the San Juan River corridor an ideal outdoor classroom and recreational destination.
