Karan English
The Director of the EMA Program and Vice President of the EMA Foundation at Northern Arizona University. Before her tenure at NAU, Ms. English held several government elected offices, including the Arizona State Senate and U.S. Congress. She is an advisor for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs related to democracy building in Africa and Eastern Europe. She sits on several boards including the Arizona State Parks Foundation. William Auberle
A Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Northern Arizona University, Research Director for EMA, and Treasurer for the EMA Foundation. As a licensed professional engineer, Bill is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) and Fellow Member of the Air & Waste Management Association. Bill serves as a member of the EPA’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee and Canada's Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources National Steering Committee. Janet Lynn
A Research Program Coordinator at EMA since November 2005. She received her B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology and Management from Colorado State University and M.S. degree in Forestry from Northern Arizona University. Janet is the program lead for the San Juan River Basin Program and has over 12 years experience working with migratory songbirds throughout the West. A returned Peace Corps volunteer, she has had the opportunity to work within a diversity of cultures and organizations including public and private wildlife and land management entities in Arizona, California, Colorado, El Salvador, Panama, and Mexico. Patty West
Patty West recently joined the EMA Program team as a research coordinator for the Arizona State Parks Partnership and Verde River Iniatives. Pat Ponce
Pat brings over twenty years of office management experience to EMA. Pat has a substantial knowledge of organizational and time management. She also has experience in coordinating ecological and conservation research collaborations. Previous employers include the State of Arizona D.E.S., the City of Tucson, and NAU. She received an AAS degree with an emphasis in office management from Lamson Business College. Pat is an avid quilter and motorcycle rider. To email Pat, click here. Catherine Woodwell
Catherine is a second year student at Northern Arizona University in the Master of Liberal Studies Program. She recently graduated from NAU summa cum laude with a B.A. in Religious Studies. Currently, her academic interest primarily focuses on environmental policy concerning endangered speciest.
