San Juan Rafting

The San Juan River provides a living laboratory for research and academic instruction with placed-based, hands-on opportunities for students and an opportunity for recreational retreats and training courses. 

Specific River Trips
The EMA Program & Foundation and NAU Outdoors offer a variety of research, educational and recreational river trips.

Academic Courses
NAU offers several courses that include field trips along the San Juan River.

River Guide Training
Basic Instruction and Native American Guide Training and Cultural Interpretation courses are open to everyone with credit optional opportunities for NAU students.

The San Juan River Basin Program Student Scholarship has been established to support diverse student participation and strengthen interdisciplinary and affordable educational opportunities along the San Juan River corridor and surrounding area contained within the Four Corners states of the Southwest.
