THE IMPORTANCE OF GRASSLANDS IN NORTHERN ARIZONA

The Importance of Grasslands in Northern Arizona is an eight-page brochure produced in 2005 by the EMA Program in conjunction with The Nature Conservancy and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Based on an ecological assessment completed by The Nature Conservancy, the brochure provides an analysis of the status of much of northern Arizona’s grasslands below 5,000 feet in elevation. It includes information about grassland ecology, threats to native grasslands, and suggestions for improving and maintaining native grasslands. This publication educates the public about the importance of this disappearing ecosystem and provides management strategies for conserving and restoring Arizona grasslands.
