SOUTHWEST ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION CENTER

The Southwest Information Center is a GIS-based resource for data regarding the land and natural resources of the Colorado Plateau. Because Flagstaff is centrally located amongst a diversity of eco-regions, numerous governmental and non-governmental organizations are situated in and around the city. When combined with the assets available at Northern Arizona University, a multitude of valuable data is produced.

The information available on the Southwest Information Center can help private and public land owners and managers make informed decisions about land and resource policy. The research and information available on this site can be used by students, researchers, scientists, policy makers and the interested public trying to understand the changing landscape of northern Arizona. Data includes land and resource policy, scientific, cultural, and anthropological research, and land use history.

The GIS-based Southwest Ecological Information Center was developed through a collaboration between the EMA Program, The Center for Data Insight, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
